CALLING ALL YOUNGSTERS WHO DESIRE TO EXPLORE THE WORLD OF 3D ANIMATION
This course is designed for anyone who is willing to discover their creativity. You will learn to use animation software and the principle of digital creation, as well as communication skills. This is for beginners who have never used 3D software, so the classes will go step by step and will be easy to follow. Upon finishing the course, you will see your potential to study further and get into the creative industry. For example working with Weta Digital in Wellington, known for The Hobbit movie, or even working internationally, e.g. Pixar, Dreamworks and Disney.

What to expect: | To master the basic use of 3D software, which will be the foundation at further studies. |
What to prepare: | Windows or Mac computer. (iPad or Tablet not applicable) Broadband internet |

What you will learn in this course
You will learn so many areas in 3D and understand how things work. Don’t worry, we will go through step by step.
User interface
First thing first, you will go through an instruction so that you won’t get intimidated with the interface. You will have understanding how things are working and why.
Modelling
You will learn to create a creation of basic shape. Creating a donut, a coffee cup, a pencil etc.
Sculpting
Welcome to the world of digital clay art. You will learn how to sculpt so your creation will look like a hand made craft. It is about adding wrinkles, scars, scratches in your creation.
Materials
Metal should look like a metal. Skin should look like a skin. You will learn how to apply materials on the 3D items so it will look like a proper metal, a proper skin etc
Lighting
Lighting has its message. Do you spot your torch at your face from below in a dark room, so you will look creepy? If so, you understand how the lighting works already! In this course you will learn how the lighting will be manipulating the studio lighting in 3D environment.
Rendering
You will learn how to visualise the 3D creation you make. You will understand how computer will calculate inside your software/processor/graphic card.
Texturing

Texturing is about applying images into 3D objects to give more details on top of materials. This module will go through details of how it is done.
Animating

Animation is about making things lively. Why do you love watching cartoons? Why do you cry when watching animation? It is about the skills and effort of animators who work on them. This module will introduce you to the basics of keyframe animation.
Entry requirement for this course
This course is suitable for 10 years old and above. Students should have basic computer skills.
Tutor: Taka Ino
Diploma in advanced 3D animation (NZQA Level 7)
Taka studied 3D animation at Lifeway College in Auckland. While gaining experience in the creative industry such as Huhu Studios and Podlance Creative Studios. He thrived as a multimedia specialist. He also has work experience for Vanuatu National Statistic Office and Shot Darts with his animation skills. His friendly and dedicated approach will help students understand what 3D animation is about, and motivate them to pursue their dream as artists across various media.

NZD $445 (For one-on-one lesson)
Any Windows or Macbook computer will be adequate for this basic course, but not Chromebook. (However, those who would like to study further may want a gaming PC with an advanced graphic card).
You will also need a broadband internet for conference calls
